Martin School Monthly Town Meetings

Martin Town Meeting Schedule 2009/2010

What is a Town Meeting?

A town meeting is a school-wide assembly which provides a natural vehicle for sharing academics, discipline-based arts, and integrated art/academic lessons with parents and the school community. Town meetings provide an audience for our children and the opportunity for us to celebrate their successes. Town meetings are the direct result of our involvement in the HOT (Higher Order Thinking) Schools Program.

What a Town Meeting is Not:

Town meetings are not designed to showcase individual student talent, but rather provide examples of what the class is learning. As a matter of fact, most classrooms have the entire class perform as a group. Other times, teachers ask small groups of students to volunteer to read their writing, perform in readers' theater, etc. to demonstrate the learning activities in which they have been engaged.

Our goal is to have every student participate in some way and at some time during the school year.

Parents, Friends, and Family
You Are Cordially Invited to Attend our
First Town Meeting
and all others throughout the year.

Come and Join us in this Celebration of Learning!

Dates are coming soon!

Town meetings begin at 2:15 p.m. and end at 3:15 p.m. Please be prompt, you will not want to miss a minute!  Parents who wish to take their child home with them, at the end of the day (3:25), may do so if a note is received in the main office on the morning of the town meeting.  All children MUST be signed out to insure safety.
